We are a small local charity which provides two complementary services to meet the diverse needs of elders in our local community. On four days per week, Tuesday to Friday, we run a Day Centre for frail elderly. Services include escorted transport to and from the Centre; a three course meal freshly cooked on the premises, plus morning and afternoon refreshments; personal care, including help with toileting, nail care, shaving & hairdressing; and a wide range of activities. Members meet weekly to plan activities and are also actively involved in the running of the Centre. Our afternoon and evening services are aimed at meeting the needs of local Mirpuri, Pakistani and Kashmiri elders. The Centre provides a place to meet and socialise and is open from 8.30 am to 3.30 pm 7 days a week. The Centre is used by 60 to 70 elders each week, dropping in on an informal basis. Activities include cards, games, conversation, Asian language TV and video, Sky Sports for cricket, and occasional one-off events, such as parties and talks by local agencies.
